John Lima is a four-year varsity soccer player for the Blue Devils and a team captain this season.
“His tireless work effort is a model for all the young players joining our program,” Leominster boys’ soccer coach Steve McCaughey said. “John is very skilled and makes a habit of outworking everyone else on the field. As a right wingback, John consistently wins battles against players who are bigger than him and has been able to lock down some of the best attacking players in Central Mass. He also often leads us into the attack because of his ability to get up and down the field.”
The Frances Drake and Skyview graduate who is an Electrical student at CTEi has lived in Leominster for eight years. He started playing soccer when he was six after his father introduced him to the sport. John said he has a true love for the sport and playing at LHS.
“What I love most is just kicking the ball around and the teamwork that’s involved with the sport," John said. “Being able to be on the team with the people I'm close with is important to me.”
John said he has learned a lot from coach McCaughey during his time at LHS/CTEi, including being able to make quick decisions on the field.
Following high school, John will finish out his soccer career playing club soccer for the FC Stars and go to college where he is undecided on a major at this time.
His favorite teacher here at LHS/CTEi is Mr. Davis (Composition) and outside of school, John likes to do electrical work. John also is in his second year in his co-op placement with Associated Environmental Systems.
